General
Academy Information
Each
February, nearly 600 fraternity leaders throughout the southeastern U.S.
converge on Atlanta to attend the Southeastern Interfraternity Conference
Leadership Academy. The Academy is a three-day
educational conference that features something for everyone, regardless
of his/her role in the fraternity community.
Well-known educational speakers anchor
the Academy curriculum. At least one general session covering broad fraternity
issues is scheduled each day. Smaller, more-intimate breakout sessions are
also scheduled daily. Breakout sessions provide a variety of opportunities
to discuss specific challenges, learn new ideas and interact with fraternity
leaders from around the region. Both students and advisors will find programming
geared specifically toward their varied interests and challenges.
The Leadership Academy also hosts the SEIFC Annual Business Meeting. At
this meeting, each member institution is eligible to vote on SEIFC business,
including the election of the new Executive
Board. Since SEIFC is largely a student-run organization, the election of
new officers is always a highlight of the Academy.
The SEIFC Awards Banquet wraps up the Academy
each year. Member institutions and individuals are recognized
for their hard work as well as their outstanding service and dedication
to the fraternity movement.
Of course, there is also plenty of time for fun. Whatever your interests,
Atlanta offers a number of sights, sounds and flavors. The Leadership
Academy is held at the Westin North Atlanta
Perimeter in Atlanta, which is in close proximity to MARTA, Buckhead and Perimeter
Mall.
