Elections
Five
student members of the SEIFC Executive Board are elected at each year's
Leadership Academy. The offices available are: President; Area I (VA,
NC, SC) Vice President; Area II (FL, GA) Vice President; Area III (AL,
MS, LA) Vice President; and Area IV (KY, TN, WV) Vice President. The fraternity
council advisors from each winning candidate's institution serve on an
Executive Committee, but do not attend meetings of the SEIFC Executive
Board. Each institution that has paid annual dues and registered for the
Academy is eligible to nominate candidates and vote.
Candidates for an SEIFC office must be registered for the Academy and
in attendance at the Annual Business Meeting (candidates for President)
or the Area Business Meeting (candidates for Vice President) at which
the election will take place. Candidates must also receive the endorsement
of their institution in order to be eligible to run for an office.
Candidates for elected office must be nominated in one of the following
manners:
1) Submission of a candidacy statement, platform information, resume of
experience and qualifications to the elections coordinator at least ten
days PRIOR to the Leadership Academy. These materials must be accompanied
by a statement from the institutional advisor indicating his/her commitment
to serve on the Executive Committee should the candidate be elected.
OR
2) Submission of the materials mentioned above prior to the start of the
Annual Business Meeting or Area Business Meeting at which the election
will be held, including the ATTENDANCE of the institutional advisor at
this meeting and confirmation of his/her commitment to serve on the Executive
Committee should the candidate be elected.
